Bagging need of agricultural products such as grains, grams, beans and onion and industrial products such as cement, fertilizer, sugar, animal and poultry feeds has created a annual demand gap of 80 millions pcs of bag. The gap is everyday widening. PP-laminated woven cloth and inner Kraft paper bags manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 36 million pcs, is being set up at Char Ashariar, Sonargoan by the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, about 25 km from the Dhaka City Centre. An investment of Tk120 million is under way and the mill is expected to be commissioned latest by December 2000. With an annual sale of Tk.400 million the mill will generate employment of 156 and a profit of Tk.60 million.
